Charlie Kirk's Legacy: Prioritize the family

Image
Today (October 14 in States and 15 sa Pinas), Charlie would have been 32. So young and yet now a symbol of Christian conservatism. What better way to celebrate him than to stand for what he believed? One way we can honor Kirk is to prioritize our families. We will cherish time with loved ones and put family first in all we do.  Colosians 3 and Ephesians 6 show what Christian family should look like. It is a family defined by love, submission and respect.  As Christians, the world is watching us. If they see a family that is loving and cherising, this will be a testimony to them on what it means to be a member of the family of God. A family that shows discord is giving bad publicity for the family of God.  As forgiven and loved individuals, our families should show the same love and forgiveness.  When we do, the world will be attracted to Christ, the foundation of all we do.  This is the best way to honor Charlie's legacy. Manatiling nakapokus sa biyaya. H...

Charlie Kirk's Legacy: Faithful to our spouses

Image
Today (October 14 in States and 15 sa Pinas), Charlie would have been 32. So young and yet now a symbol of Christian conservatism. What better way to celebrate him than to stand for what he believed? One way we can honor Kirk is to be faithful to our spouses. We will honor, love and serve our spouses with devotion and respect. Ephesians 5 shows that the husband-wife relationship pictures the Christ-Church relationship. When we love and serve our wives, we are showing to the word Christ's sacrificial love for His Church. When our wives submit and respect us, they show the Church's submission to Christ.  This is our testimony first and foremost to our own family. This is our testimony to the world.  If we keep on loving our spouses the world will see the love that exists between God and man and that should exists between men.  This is the best way to honor Charlie Kirk.

Join an Bible-believing church

Image
I am saved and am going to heaven by faith in Christ. So why do I need the local church. Bagamat hindi natin kailangan ang church upang maligtas, it is not normal for a believer to live apart from his spiritual family. We need the family to grow in...

Kaya siguro ayaw nila magsimba kasi lagi tayong nakasimangot

Image
Sa halip na ma-encouraged silang bumalik, they feel out of place and unwelcome. So they never come back. I agree and I agree and for the third time I agree. There is a spiritual side sa issue kung bakit ayaw ng mga unbelievers na magsimba. But the local church is made up of people and we should also consider the relational side of the issue.  If you ask unbelievers why they don't attend church, iilan lang ang magsasabing they reject Christ. They all claim to believe in Christ. They just hold to different ...

Hindi lagi fairy tale ending ang buhay

Image
Life is tiring. There are many things I want that I can't have and there are many things I don't want that keep on coming. Bills to pay, deadlines to keep, expectations to meet, etc., they're endless, they keep on coming. If we don't have the right mindset, it can give us the feeling of being a hamster on a wheel.  We keep on running but going nowhere. Thankfully the solution is where the problem originates - our mindset. If we change our thinking, we can be delivered from this kind of feeling of meaninglessness. The situation doesn't change but our mindset and attitudes toward it do.  Life isn't always doing about the things we like to do but doing things we have to do. Even when we don't feel like doing it. Even when we're tired. Even when we'd rather surrender.  We have to go to work to feed our families. We have to tolerate the obnoxious workmate or churchmate. We need to do the chores and the laundry. I am thankful for the moments of happiness...

Out of our comfort zones

Image
Ayon sa mga eksperto, isang dahilan kung bakit ang mga agila ay dominanteng ibon ay dahil they didn't cater to weakness. Kapag dumating na ang panahon upang ang mga inakay ay lumipad, tinutulak sila ng inang ibon palabas ng pugad and they have no choice but to fly or risk death. We are men of habits but most importantly we are men of comforts. Kung papipiliin tayo between comfort and pain, 100% we will choose comfort.  We don't have the Achilles's mindset na pinili ang daan ng heroism and certain death over a life of comfort but mediocrity. Within us is a beast that desires comfort. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit pinipili nating magkompromiso when living the spiritual life becomes a burden.

The Martha Syndrome: busy but going nowhere

Image
Nakakita na kayo ng hamster on a wheel? Wala siyang tigil sa katatakbo but he's going nowhere. Napapagod ngunit walang patutunguhan. We do not realize that this is just another hamster on a wheel scenario. Laging alig...

Feed your faith

Image
But when we take our eyes off Him, doon tayo lumulubog. Remember Peter? Natutukso tayong to take things on our own hands. And then ...

Do not fear their hatred

Image
We are peculiar. We are different. Alam ito ng sanlibutan even if most Christians don't. Maraming Cristianong so deep in compromise that they cannot be distinguished from the worldings. Worse, they considered themselves worldlings.  Nakalimutan nila na at point of salvation we're set apart in Christ. There's no commonality between the world and Christ, so why there should be with us? In the vacuum, pumasok ang worldly ideas and we accepted them as our own.  Hindi tayo ready na kamuhian ng sanlibutan. We wanted to befriend it. Dahil dito we are welcome with open arms.  But the moment you dare to be different, the world is quick to hate. They don't want you telling the truth. They don't want to see you living the truth because even if we're quietly living the truth, we're a testimony to their lies. So ...

Zeal with no knowledge

Image
These are the same people na kayang pangalanan at ilista ang mga kanta, dance moves at hobbies ng Bini (no hate to Bini).

Attend church services

Image
Hebrews 10:24-25 [24]and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, [25]not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.    Why do I need to attend church services? For many reasons but chiefly to stimulate one another to love and good works. Sure you can learn doctrine at home but to apply these doctrines require being part of a community. After all you cannot love, forgive or encourage a book.  I don't believe in mandatory Bible attendance. It is very easy to become just a box to check in our legalistic list. But I do believe in regular and systematic study of the Word of God. Learning and applying the Word of God is what causes us to grow in intimacy, not religious busy-bodying. Even unbelievers can be busy in religion but only believers that apply God's Word to life experience its power.  So let us not forget to assemble with other be...

Even if all the world is against it

Image
John 15:18 [18]"If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. It is not popular to be a Christian today. Kabilaan ang pagtuligsa. Some of the criticisms are justified since for most of man's history, Christendom isn't exactly a model of holiness. The Church becomes identified with power grab, Inquisition and intolerance. Even if today's Christians are far more gracious than before, the world never forget.  But many of today's criticism is a result of departure for Biblical standards. Lahat ng aspeto ng Christian beliefs is under attack. Marriage and family are under attack by alternate forms of marriages and family. Biblical sexuality is under attack by LGBTQIA movement. Creationism is under attack by evolution. The faith in general is under attack by atheistic materialism.  The world has one message- the Bible is not the standard for faith and practices. And if you believe it, you're a bigot and backwards.  Most Christians become...

Itching ears

Image
Ni hindi natin sinisilip ang kabilang bakod dahil baka they have something worthy to say. We just stay on our side of the fence.  Makikita natin ito sa social media. Whenever people are in disagreement, instead of talking it out, nauuwi sa ad homs at pagmumurahan. For some reason, ang kabuuan ng isang tao ay hinuhusgahan based on where they stan...

An empty house, a hole inside my heart

Image
Proverbs 21:9 [9]It is better to live in a corner of a roof Than in a house shared with a contentious woman. An empty street, an empty house A hole inside my heart I'm all alone, the rooms are getting smaller (Westlife) Aanuhin mo ang bahay na bato kung ang nakatira ay kwago. (Salawikaing Filipino) A house is not a home. Nag-a-upgrade tayo sa buhay but for what reason? Is the price worth it?  Personally, I am edified by his posts kaya madalas ko silang i-share sa FB ko.  Isa sa mga lost art in raising a family is hindi ang laki ng bahay ang sukatan ng matagumpay na pamilya kundi kung gaano kasaya ang mga nakatira rito. Aanuhin mo ang malaking bahay...

Expensive living

Image
Some mistakes are expensive. Nothing is more expensive than living a life that is unpleasing to God.  Imagine spending your life only to realize that at the end that life amounts to meaningless. Ecclesiastes is a record of what living under the sun (living a life separate from God) looks like. You may have all the money that you can earn, have many properties you can purchase and achieve all the honors and titles this world can offer, but if you live it apart from God, you're grasping the wind.  No money, property or honor will replace a growing relationship with God.  And if you keep on ignoring God's principles, you will continue making mistakes.  In the world's eyes you're successful but at night when you sit down to meditate on the day's happening, you're singing,  "She's so lucky, she's a star But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking If there's nothing missing in my life Then why do these tears come at night?" You climbe...

Grow in Christ, not in church

Image
Man is religious by nature. By itself, being religious is not bad. But when religion becomes a substitute for Spirit-filled Christian living, we are playing into Satan's hands. Religion is Satan's trump card. I have reason to believe that you look more like a Pharisee than a Christian.  Bible studies, prayer meetings and fellowships are helpful means to develop the spiritual life but they're not the spiritual life. When studying the Bible you're learning divine viewpoint but these need to be applied. Prayer meetings enable you to supplicate before God, but what is required is the humility of the spirit and not outside motion. Devotionals and fellowships put you with other believers but growing in the Lord is a personal walk.  True growth happens when what you learned in these religi...

He's alive

Image
This is probably one of my most favorite theme- Christ's death, burial and resurrection. Wala akong maisip na mas mahalagang paksa.  Jesus died for our sins. He is the propitiation for ours and the whole world.  No man can say he can't come to the Father because of sins. Christ paid them all. He took them in His body at the Cross.  And He didn't stay dead! He rise again to show that God accepted His sacrificial, substitutionary death on the Cross.  We believe in a living Savior! All that is left for us to do is believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life. If you believe in Jesus the promise of Christ Himself is you shall never promise but will have everlasting life, John 3:16; 5:24; 6:47. I don't know a better news than that! Have you believed in Jesus for eternal life? If not, why not believe now?

Fight for ideas without resorting to violence

Image
There was a time na tanging artista o politiko ang may tsansang mapakinggan. But with the advent of the internet and social media, kahit sino ang maaaring magkaroon ng plataporma upang maabot ang maraming tao ng kaniyang ideya. Sadly, the average Filipino only uses social media upang maglibang.

Aim for the recognition that matters

Image
We love to impress everyone. That is why we dress sharp, we project impeccable manners and develop a facade. Gusto nating purihin at hangaan. We don't understand the way of Christian nomads. Yes. Life will move on for the wordlings and you will be forgotten.  Therefore, it doesn't make sense na mamuhay to gain their approval. They will b...

Train your mind

Image
Whether we like it or not, we are engaged in a war, a spiritual war, and if you're not prepared, you will be a casualty. Everyday we're exposed to worldly thinking and values. These thinking and values influence how we perceive things and how we move.

Salvation is free

Image
Hindi mo kailangang bilihin an...
