Rejected by his own

If you feel you’re rejected by people, don’t be surprised. Jesus Himself was rejected by His own, John 1:11.

Maybe one of the frustrating aspects of the ministry is when your own people rejected you. They will accept literally almost anything from almost anyone, without discernment, but filter everything you said and do with a personality lens. They reject you, not because you don’t teach the truth well, but because they don’t like you.

It is discouraging.

Ibinigay mo ang iyong oras, lakas, at talento upang ipaglingkod, pero dahil hindi ka pasok sa kanilang favorite people, they reject you.

Most are looking for a nursing maid, not a teacher.

Sometimes napapatanong ka if it is worth it. Only the love for God and impersonal love for the brethren constrain you to serve.

Worth it pa ba? This especially comes into focus when other people appreciate your service to the Body of Christ.

I have translated 500 FG blogs into English. According to my handler (wow feeling CIA, may handler), the Filipino translation is the second most visited language. I was told that the Filipino translations are widely used in Metro Manila.

I sincerely doubt if anyone in the local church have read even one.

These are the same people who are voracious consumers of other people’s writings or worse, FB memes.

I have written 1522 blogs (this will be the 1523rd) from FG perspective. Some people messaged appreciation. I sincerely doubt anyone from the local church have read even one.

I didn’t write for admiration. I write mainly to clarify my thoughts on certain topics and to record them for future use (and possibly for sharing). Still, it feels good na ma-appreciate from time to time. After all as their Bible teacher, I transfer my thoughts every Sunday, and if they read my blogs, it is like having an extended one-to-one discipling session on a topic.

And this is not unique to me. May nababasa akong other blogs and posts na pareho ang karanasan. Other people are more appreciative of their work, their own people reject them.

Maybe parte ito ng bigger Filipino culture. We have foreign-envy. We hero worship other cultures.

I am not inciting ethnophobism.

I have translated a whole book into Filipino (see link below). A second one is on the way. I sincerely doubt anyone in the church have read it. That is weird because I am teaching the same book in the Sunday services.

Many people messaged me asking my opinion on this verse or on this topic. They came as far away as Africa. Yet none from the local church.

I am not a prophet. I don’t believe there are prophets today. But maybe Matt 13:57 applies even to present dispensation. A Bible teacher has no honor except to his own hometown and family.

Sana manampalataya kayo at kita-kita tayo.
