United against the world
"The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win. Workingmen of all countries, unite!" This has been the rallying cry of the Marxists. And they never forget it while they spy our freedom and by subterfuge undermine our institutions.
The same rallying cry can be really useful for Christians, except we're not trying to win the world. Instead we're forsaking it as we put our sight on something better- a city not created by human hands.
Christians need to be united if we are to win the struggle against the world. The world will always try to pigeonhole us into accepting its ideas and systems. They will squeeze us to shape us but we should resist it. Together. With one another. With Christ.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of amicide inside the church where brothers are shooting each other. Instead of helping each other to make a stand, we're busy playing king of the mountain, building a house of card on other believers' happiness.
Mabilis tayong manghusga sa kapwa natin Cristiano sa halip na tulungan silang tumayo. We feel so good that we're performer (nagsisimba, nagpe-prayer meeting, nag-de-devotionals) that we forget na minsan din tayong nag-struggle na maisabuhay ang spiritual life.
We forget that we're sinners saved by grace. We act more like the Pharisees, acting as if we won what is freely given to us through faith.
We should stop this "I am so clean, you're dirty" attitude. We will never outgrow our need for grace. Paul started his career as the least of the apostles, then the least of the saints and by the end of his life, he called himself the chief of sinners. The more he grow in grace, the more he saw his sinfulness and his need for the grace of God. In John the Baptist's terms: "He must increase but I must decrease."
Maybe the reason we're not growing spiritually is we're so full of ourselves. It is difficult to put water in an overflowing cup. The previous content must be thrown away if Christ is to fill us richly in wisdom and grace.
Let's unite. Let's not shoot each other. The world is against us. We need to stand together if we're to fight its encroachment to our lives.
