Grow in Christ, not in church
Man is religious by nature. By itself, being religious is not bad. But when religion becomes a substitute for Spirit-filled Christian living, we are playing into Satan's hands. Religion is Satan's trump card.
Kung ang ating ideya ng pagiging Cristiano ay walang katapusang Bible studies, prayer meetings, devotionals at fellowships at ang sinumang hindi involved dito ay tinuturing na ungodly, I have reason to believe that you look more like a Pharisee than a Christian.
Bible studies, prayer meetings and fellowships are helpful means to develop the spiritual life but they're not the spiritual life. When studying the Bible you're learning divine viewpoint but these need to be applied. Prayer meetings enable you to supplicate before God, but what is required is the humility of the spirit and not outside motion. Devotionals and fellowships put you with other believers but growing in the Lord is a personal walk.
True growth happens when what you learned in these religious activities are put into practice. When we use God's thinking to solve daily problems or to plan for tomorrow or simply to enjoy, that's where growth happens. Sabi nga ni James walang halaga ang tagapakinig lamang. Atin lamang na dinadaya o nililinlang ang ating mga sarili.
Let us make sure that our loyalty is in Christ and not in our church. You can grew up in the church, even live in the chapel your whole life, but not grow in Christ. Growth in Christ is a result of steady feeding and metabolizing and applying Bible doctrine.
Hindi natin magagawang substitute ang religion. Sometimes we feel so holy because we study, pray and worship but in reality we're no different than the Pharisees. We need a more humble publican attitude, Luke 18:9-14.
If we depend on our religious activities to be holy in our walk, v9, we're not demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit.
Spiritual living is the Spirit living the spiritual life through us. It is not checking our religious boxes.
True growth happens when we become humbler in our position before Christ. When we see ourselves at the foot of the Cross, and not at the top of the ladder, we're growing.
Don't be too busy being religious that you missed the living in spiritual living.
