Refuting Preterism

When I defended Israel's right to exist in the land by quoting passages that will only be fulfilled with Israel occupation of the land including Ez 38-39 which detailed a future Gog and Magog attack on a nation at peace and living without walls, someone claimed that it was fulfilled in AD 70 and that it is the same as Rev 20:8. Here is my answer:

Rev 20:8 isn't fulfilled in AD 70. Chronologically it followed Satan's release after the millennial kingdom.

Revelation 20:1-8

[1]Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.

[2]And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;

[3]and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.

[4]Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a THOUSAND YEARS.

[5]The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.

[6]Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.

[7]When the thousand years are COMPLETED, Satan will be released from his prison,

[8]and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore.

NOTE THE CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER:

1. Satan thrown to the abyss

2. First resurrection and thousand year reign of Christ

3. Satan's release after a thousand years ARE completed

4. Gog and Magog revolution

The Gog and Magog war of Ez 38 IS different from the Gog and Magog war of Rev 20.

1. The Ezekiel Gog war is composed of 8 named nations (see Ez 38:1-5). The Gog war of Rev 20 is composed of all the whole world

2. The Gog war of Ez 38 is led by the Gog, the prince of Magog from the north. The Gog war of Rev 20 is led by Satan himself

3. In the Gog war of Ez 38, God baited Gog Himself to come and be destroyed in the mountains of Israel. There is no such mention in Rev 20. Satan in hatred over his imprisonment for 1000 years.

4. In Ez 38 Gog is destroyed primarily by earthquake. In Rev 20 fire devour the Gog crowd.

If you insist that Ez 38 is the same as Rev 20 Gog and it happened in 70 AD, and Rev 20 says that it happened after 1000 years of imprisonment of Satan are you ready to defend that Satan was imprisoned in 930 BC? That is 1000 years of 70 AD.

Any historian knew that no such thing happen in AD 70. Jerusalem is destroyed in 70 AD by Rome, not by the ruler of the farthest north, and neither was Satan imprisoned in 930 BC to gather the whole world to attack Israel in 70 AD.
